Croatian bodybuilder Aleksandar Srdoc, who was well-known in his home country for his contributions to the sport, was pronounced dead today at age 35. The official cause released to the public was that his death was related to “health problems.” You can check out some of the footage of Aleksandar Srdoc’s posing above; he was well-loved by friends and fans in the Croatian bodybuilding circuit for his ripped, veiny physique.

Srdoc rose to bodybuilding fame in Croatia on the back of some serious legal issues. After doing time in jail for “crimes” (that’s the only reason mentioned in any article you find about him), his likeness was used by media and ad companies because he was perceived as extremely rugged and tough.

Srdoc’s death was announced via Facebook, by his brother-in-law, Petar Klančir, who is an IFBB-certified pro bodybuilder.

Srdoc’s passing is made all the more sad by the fact that he was taken from us extremely young. As you can tell from the photos, he was a talented competitor and a very valued member of his family and community. In a country where bodybuilding doesn’t have a strong foothold as a popular sport, Srdoc brought light to our little corner of the world and shared it with others.
