Arnold Schwarzenegger Apologizes For “Screw Your Freedom” Comments: ‘I Should Have Communicated Better’

Arnold Schwarzenegger addressed the controversial comments nearly two years later.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been successful in many ventures over the course of his career. From bodybuilding to acting to politics, Schwarzenegger has held himself to a high standard and has always delivered. In 2021, Schwarzenegger seemed to let his emotions get the better of him during a rant, including making comments highlighted by “screw your freedom.” Nearly two years later, the ex-bodybuilder addressed these comments.

The COVID-19 pandemic saw many around the country take sides when it comes to safety and vaccination itself. The issue of masks also split the nation when it came to the impact and how they would actually stop the spread. When discussing this topic with CNN back in 2021, Schwarzenegger said “screw your freedom” to those who felt that masks curbed freedom.

This brought plenty of negative attention and criticism to Schwarzenegger. After the noise quieted down, all went on with their lives but the comments were brought back to light on Twitter and Schwarzenegger wanted to comment.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Apologizes For Comments

Over the years, Arnold Schwarzenegger has communicated more with the public. He has started a newsletter where he answers questions from fans and has also started a podcast. Of course, social media remains the quickest way for people to connect with public figures.

On Twitter, there was a comment thrown Schwarzenegger’s way about his remarks of 2021 and he responded.

“I want to thank you for your open-mindedness. I think we should be able to disagree without being enemies. Here’s what else I’ll say: I’m sorry for saying those words. I try to be relentlessly positive, but sometimes my mouth gets ahead of me. I should have communicated better.”

After his apology on social media, many others began discussing this topic once again. One user wrote that “the world would be a better play if just 10% of the population would follow this sentiment.”

Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger started a podcast called Pump Club, where he can discuss all of the happenings of, not just bodybuilding, but issues around the world. There are many who remain interested in what he has to say, especially following his controversial remarks. Schwarzenegger continues to be an influential voice and will use his platform to speak on many issues at hand.
