One of the more exciting moments on the finals stage is when the Strongmen come out to do their final lifts. It’s a nice break of pace after hours of bodybuilding physiques and posing. It changes the energy into something else all bodybuilding and fitness fans respect – unadulterated pure displays of strength. Some of the strongest men in the world come to Columbus, Ohio to showcase their strength. But at the end of the day there can only be one winner. So who competed at the Arnold Strongman Classic this year? Returning champ Hafthor Bjornsson (Iceland) was in the mix this weekend with greats like Rob Kearney (USA), Martins Licis (USA), Jean-Francois Caron (Canada), and Mikhail Shivlyakov (Russia). Bjornsson won the competition in 2019 and 2018. Brian Shaw, who won the competition in 2017, was not competing this year.

It was absolutely thrilling to see athletes at this level of their field competing in classic displays of strength like the Wheel of Pain, Timber Carry, and the dreaded Rogue Elephant Bar Deadlift. All of these men should be incredibly proud of how far they’ve been able to come in this sport, regardless of where they placed.
