As Coronavirus Spreads, the Olympics Could be Postponed

Coronavirus is wreaking havoc around the globe.

The world is currently in complete panic mode. As the days and weeks pass by it seems the Coronavirus is spreading all across the globe to the horror of the world’s population.

The pandemic has spread from China to the Middle East to Europe and now the US. The sickness has also spread throughout Asia including in Japan. It comes at a very unfortunate time for many athletes who have been honing their minds and bodies to prepare for the 2020 Olympics which was to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

With the spread of the Coronavirus it seems that it’s becoming more and more likely that the Summer Olympics could be postponed.

According to Japan Olympic minister Seiko Hashimoto, the 2020 Olympic games could be pushed to the end of 2020.

“The IOC has the right to cancel the games only if they are not held during 2020,” Hashimoto told parliament, according to the Associated Press. “This can be interpreted to mean the games can be postponed as long as they are held during the calendar year.”

It appears the Corona is becoming a real problem for the sporting world. The Arnold Sports Festival is even in danger of potentially being cancelled due to the pandemic. As it stands, no final word has been given on whether the Olympics will be postponed. Generation Iron will continue to follow this story as it develops.
