With Phil Heath dominating the bodybuilding scene it’s hard to imagine who can challenge the reigning Olympia champion. With Kai Greene out of the 2016 competition many are wondering exactly who would be a worthy challenger to the throne. There are some who are hedging their bets and pulling for the veteran and former Olympia champion Dexter Jackson to surprise Heath and reclaim the title of greatest bodybuilder in the world. There’s also Shawn Rhoden and Cedric McMillan to consider in the argument as well. But one challenger that many are still high on is the mammoth Egyptian bodybuilder Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay.

Big Ramy has the kind of size and proportions that could see him one day winning the bronze Sandow trophy. There are many out there that see Big Ramy as nothing but a mass monster and nothing more, yet from what we’ve seen of him he certainly has the diligence and potential to one day become one of the all time greats of the sport. The problem with Big Ramy last year was the notion that he’d win the Olympia by being the biggest man on stage. That led to complications that would eventually having placing fifth in last year’s competition.

If Big Ramy wants to break through the top five and challenge for Phil Heath’s title then he’ll have to change things up this time around. He’ll likely always be the biggest man on stage so his priorities should lie elsewhere. For Big Ramy it’s all about conditioning, symmetry, and cutting the right amount of water weight to ensure that every muscle group is defined.

One muscle group in particular that is always highlighted on the Egyptian bodybuilder’s frame is his enormous legs, especially his quads. In a recent Instagram posting Big Ramy showed off his impressively massive wheels.
