Lorena Blanco suffered a heart attack on Saturday.
IFBB pro Lorena Blanco passed away after suffering a heart attack on Saturday at her home. The 37-year-old Bikini bodybuilder was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead that afternoon, according to local news La Voz de Galicia.
Many close to Blanco have taken to social media over the last three days to share condolences. This includes the IFBB Pro League Hungary, who hosted Blanco’s final career show earlier this month.
“You were the wonder. Your kindness shone on everyone who came near you. Every member of the staff will remember you forever. At the end of the competition, you thanked each and every one of us individually. You stood quietly and patiently backstage after the awards ceremony, with sparkling eyes, to thank the promoter for one of the most outstanding achievements of your professional career.”
The Career of Lorena Blanco
Lorena Blanco was on the rise in the Bikini division in the midst of her most successful season of her career as she had her sights set on the biggest competition of the year.
Blanco turned pro in 2023 after the NPC Worldwide European Championships. She went onto make her debut during the Europa Pro, where she finished seventh. This would be her only show of the year before a busy 2024 season, where she got the chance to go up against some of the best in the world.
Blanco competed in seven shows in 2024. This includes her best finish at the time of fourth place during the Tahoe Pro. She competed in many big-name shows, including the Tampa Pro (6th) and Mr. Big Evolution Portugal Pro (16th).
The hunt was on for qualification to the 2025 Olympia this year. She finished as the runner-up during the Kokeny Classic Hungary Pro. Blanco last took the stage during the Gomesia Ultimate Battle Pro Medellin Supershow in Colombia, which ran from July 18-20.
