This blind mma fighter is nothing short of amazing.

It’s safe to say that we live in an era where horrible things can happen at any moment. As such, we’ve all seemed to grow disillusioned and numb to our surroundings. It’s been just a few days since the deadliest mass shooting in US history, yet we’re already looking to move on and put things behind us. While it may seem somewhat cold and callous, the reality is that living in fear simply isn’t an option. No matter how horrible times may get, we must yearn to move forward and fight for a better tomorrow. For South African mixed martial artist Ronald Dlamini, the notion is something close to his heart.

The first Black MMA champion in South African history, Ronald Dlamini was set to do big things on the fight circuit. His performances were explosive and dominant, the South African fighter always showing his grit and skill in the cage and ring. But as fate would have it, a curve ball was thrown Dlamini’s way.

After being diagnosed with meningitis shortly after a bout in Australia, Dlamini would fall into a coma. Upon awaking he would discover that he was completely blind forever changing the trajectory of his career. But rather than give up on MMA and choose to live his life feeling sorry for his position, Ronald Dlamini has chosen to continue his life as a martial artist and trainer. Remarkably, Dlamini has invented a self-defense style that he uses to help the blind defend themselves in their everyday lives. Take a look at the video below for an inspiring tale of perseverance and the iron will to keep pushing forward even in the wake of tragic circumstances.
