LIFE OFF THE STAGE: BODYBUILDER’S DAY JOBS

Generation IronIf you think you’ll start out make a living on just pro bodybuilding alone you have another thing coming.

Whether the pros make enough from competition or not they do have lives outside of competitive bodybuilding and that includes day jobs. Here’s a few of the jobs that current and former pros have tackled.
.

Ronnie Coleman – Cop

When Coleman wasn’t busy winning Olympia championships he was an officer of the law. Pretty sure whenever Coleman was on the scene a perp would likely jump at the chance to surrender.
.

Steve Kuclo – Fireman

Another pro who puts his life on the line while not on a posing stage, Steve Kuclo is another great example of competitor who serves the people. There have to be some definite benefits with working with a guy as strong as Kulco. Forget an axe to get into a fire engulfed room, Kuclo could batter down a door with his boots or fists.
.

Phil Hill – Correctional Officer

When he wasn’t on stage doing his best splitting pose, Phil Hill was a correctional officer in New Jersey. If any prisoners got out of line they’d have to answer to Hill, a prospect that would give even the most grizzled career criminal some pause.
.

Joel Stubbs – Pilot

Believe it or not the massive Joel Stubbs was indeed a pilot before his training schedule began to conflict with his day job. It’s hard to believe that a man his size was able to fit into the cockpit, but I’m sure he made it work. Besides, who’s going to argue that fact with a 300 pound bodybuilder?
.

Evan Centopani – Title Searcher

An experienced IFBB pro with great potential, Evan Centopani isn’t only known for this musclebound physique, but also his job as a title searcher for a real estate company in Connecticut. If you ever need some history on your property, Evan is the man to call.
.

Justin Harris – Echocardiographer

A bodybuilder on the comeback trail, Justin Harris stepped away from the sport for quite time in order to get his masters in physics. Known for his vast intelligence Justin worked as echocardiographer taking picture of the heart with ultrasound imaging. Harris is training for his return to the posing stage and with that level of knowledge there’s no guessing what new tricks he’ll bring to the table.
.

Sergio Oliva – Cop

Like Ronnie Coleman, the Olympia great Sergio Oliva also served as a police officer in the Rogers Park District in Chicago. Unlike Coleman, Oliva maintained his career as an officer even after retiring from competition. No doubt Oliva was an imposing figure when walking the beat. When you have to have your police uniform specially made to fit your 60 inch chest you’re definitely going to intimidate some would be criminals.
