Best Male Athlete 2018

Shawn Rhoden: He did what seemed like the impossible. He took down the seven time reigning Olympia champion Phil Heath. Beyond that fact, Shawn Rhoden has been a well decorated and top class bodybuilder for years now. Sandow trophy or not – Shawn Rhoden is a modern legend.

Brandon Hendrickson: Having risen up to the top levels of the Men’s Physique division, Brandon Hendrickson received official validation by winning the Olympia Men’s Physique 2018.

Flex Lewis: There was no better way to finish his run on the Men’s 212 stage than to earn one last Olympia Men’s 212 trophy in 2018. He is the singular definition of a champion in his division and walked out on top.

Breon Ansley: Proving last year to be no fluke, Breon Ansley won his second consecutive Classic Physique Olympia trophy this year. He is now the gold standard to beat in the Classic Physique division.

Roelly Winklaar: He just keeps getting bigger and bigger – to the point where he gives Big Ramy a run for his money. This year all that size and hard work paid off with his highest placing yet at the Mr. Olympia – landing 3rd.

Phil Heath: While this was the first year he lost the Mr. Olympia since his epic reign, there is no denying that Phil Heath still has one of the best physiques on the stage currently.

Andre Ferguson: Giving Brandon Hendrickson a run for his money, Andre landed a first place victory in Men’s Physique at the Arnold Classic 2018. And while he couldn’t repeat that placing at the Olympia, he is a physique to watch out for in 2018 and the years to come.

Best Female Athlete 2018

Angelica Teixeira: Angelica Teixeira is proving to be an unstoppable force in the Bikini division. Landing first place in both the Arnold Classic and the Bikini Olympia, there is no doubt she is one of the top female athletes of the year.

Shanique Grant: Another female competitor with repeat victories in the two biggest events of the year. Shanique holds the trophy for both the Women’s Physique Arnold Classic and the Women’s Physique Olympia 2018.

Cydney Gillon: With a first place victory in the Figure Olympia 2018, there’s no denying that Cydney is a powerful force in female bodybuilding.

Candice Lewis-Carter: Also a Figure competitor, Candice is basically toe-to-toe with Cydney for best Figure physique. She landed a first place victory in the Arnold Classic 2018 and just fell short with a second place at the Figure Olympia.

Janet Layug: If there is anyone who could give Angelica a run for her money, it’s Janet Layug. Landing a second and third place at the Arnold Classic and Bikini Olympia respectively, Janet makes sure that Angelica can’t rest for fear of falling behind.

Whitney Jones: Despite a serious knee injury that made her completely change her entire routine, Whitney Jones rose above and landed first place at both the Arnold Classic and Fitness Olympia this year. Against all odds, her hard work and passion proved that she can be one of the best athletes of the year.

Up-And-Comer Of The Year

Regan Grimes: Not only blowing up fast in the Men’s Open division, Regan shocked the bodybuilding world when he showed up at the New York Pro in the Classic Physique division (dropping nearly 50 pounds)… and won first place!

Rafael Brandao: Rafael Brandao continues to make strides in the Men’s Open division with improved placings across the board. He also competed in a large number of competitions this year – eager and thirsty to continue to improve and rise the ranks.

Akeem Scott: A Men’s Physique competitor with a lot of promise that finally started coming into his own this year. Akeem won the Toronto Pro Supershow and is becoming a real threat in the division.

Steve Laureus: Another promising Men’s Physique competitor that turned heads at the Pittsburgh Pro this year. He landed seventh place at the Men’s Physique Olympia which is a promising start for a competitor with a lot to offer.

Alexis Rivera: A Men’s Open bodybuilder who landed 11th place at the Olympia 2018, but has the early signs of a physique that will cause a lot of trouble for his fellow competitors. This year may be the beginning of big things for Alexis Rivera.

Derek Lunsford: Placing second at the Men’s 212 Olympia this year, it goes without saying that Derek had a fantastic year. And with Flex Lewis bowing out of next year’s competitions, he may have a shot at the champion trophy in 2019.

Kamal Elgargni: With a third place victory in the Men’s 212 division, Kamal is the only other promising competitor to take Flex Lewis’ place in 2019 as the next Men’s 212 Olympia champion.

Most Improved Bodybuilder 2018

Brandon Curry: Another Oxygen Gym Camel Crew success story. Brandon Curry improved incredibly by landing in the top 5 at the Mr. Olympia this year. His last placing at the Olympia was 15th.

Roelly Winklaar: Placing 3rd at the Olympia and making for his highest ranking yet at the Olympia, his previous two Olympia outings landed him in 6th both times.

Brandon Hendrickson: While Brandon has had many ups and downs throughout his career, this is his first ever Men’s Physique Olympia victory after previously placing 3rd last year. A significant improvement indeed.

Nathan De Asha: Technically Nathan De Asha placed a step lower at this year’s Mr. Olympia competition. But there’s no denying that his physique continues to improve and that he is becoming a real threat to the top 5 competitors.

Kamal Elgargni: Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Kamal is not only nominated for our up-and-comer award but also most improved. The speed upon which he blew up his physique is phenomenal and has earned him high placings accordingly.

George Peterson: Although he landed in the exact same placing as he did last year for the Classic Physique Olympia, that is purely due to the impressive improvements across the board in this young division. Peterson is on fire with constant improvements to his physique and 2019 will be a real showstopper.

Ryan Terry: Huge improvements brought Ryan Terry up to 3rd place at the Men’s Physique Olympia competition this year compared last year’s 6th place finish. At this rate he will become a true threat to the first place spot in 2019.

Raymont Edmonds: Going from 4th to 2nd place at the Men’s Physique Olympia this year, Raymont is the only other competitor next to Ryan Terry who can be a huge threat to the throne in 2019.

Personality Of The Year

Kai Greene: Though he no longer competes, Kai Greene’s personality is just as big as his physique. He has so much charisma that it’s landed him a role on Stranger Things in this past season and his interviews are always long (very long) interesting chats.

Sergi Constance: With over 3 million followers on Instagram and a powerful personality to go with his powerful physique, Sergi is a standout personality in the bodybuilding world.

Blessing Awodibu: Known to some as the funniest bodybuilder alive, Blessing uses his social media to film humorous skits mixed with motivational training videos.

Larry Wheels: 2018 turned Larry Wheels into a sensation as he aimed to prove that he could become a masterful pro bodybuilder. His journey to an incredible physique mixed with his personality made him a standout to watch in 2018.

NDO Champ: There is no other bodybuilder as intense as NDO Champ. Just watch one of his videos and your speakers might blow out from his absolutely insane screams and powerful energy.

Simeon Panda: With 4.5 million followers and a goal to turn himself into more than just a bodybuilder but a bonafide brand in and of himself, Simeon Panda is irresistible to watch.

Bradley Martyn: Another bodybuilder who used his bodybuilding prowess to build up his name into a brand. Bradley Martyn has built up his own gym (Zooculture) but is also known for his entertaining videos containing everything from strange workout stunts to interesting video talks.

Jeremy Buendia: Not only a Men’s Physique champion but a bodybuilder looking to make change in the world, Jeremy Buendia has used his massive following for more than just competing and sponsorships. He has helped raise money for the Philippines and most notably donated to charity after his 2018 Olympia run.

Mike Rashid: Having a massive YouTube subscriber base and videos that are entertaining, motivational, and informative – this bodybuilder turned boxer has a personality and following to match.

Martyn Ford: A massive bodybuilder in both height and muscle, Martyn Ford is also a charismatic actor and new face of 5% Nutrition. His charisma and muscle have no limits and has lead to international and viral fame.

Influencer Of The Year

CT Fletcher: Leave it to CT Fletcher to turn his latest medical issues into a year’s worth of inspiration and motivation. CT has always been a sort of motivational speaker and insane workout motivator. A heart transplant couldn’t stop that no matter what.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: The Rock is the closest thing we have had to a bodybuilder in Hollywood since Arnold Schwarzenegger. Not only that, but The Rock actually loves the sport of bodybuilding and has often showed up to IFBB shows as a true fan.

Trystan Lee: A teenage bodybuilder who has made such incredible gains that he has become a fitness influencer for a new generation. Who knows what kind of fitness master he will become in adult life!

Jerry Ward: A fitness guru and former wrestler, Jerry Ward has had a loyal following of fitness fans and is a true spotlight voice in the bodybuilding industry. He is also an actor appearing in commercials and minor TV roles.

Ric Drasin: Pic is essentially the oral historian of bodybuilding. His YouTube videos regal us with untold stories of Gold’s Gym in its prime and never gets old. His opinions and takes on bodybuilding and how it has changed have made him a vital influencer in the fitness industry.

Paige Hathaway: A fitness model with over 4 million followers, Paige has been an inspiration for women in the fitness industry across the globe with her insightful personality and incredible physique.

Calum Von Moger: Originally known as Arnold 2.0, Calum Von Moger amassed a bigger following than most competitive bodybuilders. While he has jumped into the fray of competing in the IFBB, he will always first and foremost be a fitness influencer that shares intimate details about his adventurous lifestyle and epic physique.

Eva Andressa: Starting as a skinny teenager in Brazil to becoming a global fitness sensation, Eva Andressa has sculpted one of the greatest female physiques in the industry. She currently has nearly 5 million followers on Instagam alone.

Michelle Lewin: Self described as a fitness diva, cover model, and role model – Michelle’s focus is to not only perfect her physique but to be a voice in the fitness community for people across the world. Her 13 million Instagram followers definitely help to make an impact!

Katya Elise Henry: A fitness model who finds more joy in witnessing others succeed at their fitness goals than within herself. Katya’s main goal is to be a fitness inspiration to the world. With 5 million followers on social media she’s already made a huge impact and it keeps growing.

Karina Elle: A fitness model, trainer, and a former cheerleader from Florida, Karina has been named the most “in-demand” fitness model and has influenced millions to follow in her fitness journey!
