Andrea Lorini was found dead in his bed.

The Italian bodybuilding community has been hit hard by the tragic death of former champion Andrea Lorini, first reported by The Sun.

According to reports, Lorini passed away due to a “sudden illness” that sent him into cardiac arrest. Lorini’s mother found him unresponsive in his bed in Chiari, a province of Brescia, in the northern part of Italy. He was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics attempted to revive him. Lorini was 48 years old.

The mayor of Chiari made a statement following the death of Lorini:

“We feel deep pain over the loss of such a young father, loved by the community and by countless friends who today mourn his passing.”

Andrea Lorini became well-known in the fitness community in his area. He earned the nickname, “The Giant,” due to his incredible size and dedication to weightlifting and bodybuilding. He worked as a gym manager in the town of Coccaglio, where he was able to work with many gym goers. Lorini made waves as a competitor as well, taking the state in many shows. This includes top-three finishes at national IFBB championships in the 90kg category in 2017 and 2019.

Andrea Lorini’s Death Hits Bodybuilding Community

The tragic passing of Andrea Lorini follows an unfortunate string of deaths in the bodybuilding community recently.

Just last week, IFBB Pro bodybuilder Jason Lowe has passed away at 38 years old. Lowe, who competed on the biggest stages in the sport during his career, suffered a heart attack. The news was shared his his wife, Ashley, on Thursday, January 22 2026. The sudden death of Lowe is one that has hit the bodybuilding world hard and many competitors have shared condolences. According to RXMuscle, Lowe was training in his garage when he dropped. An autopsy has not been done yet so there is no official cause of death.

Legendary photographer Bill Dobbins also passed away recently after making a major impact as a media member in the bodybuilding community. While on the West coast, Dobbins became involved with Gold’s Gym. This led to a relationship with many bodybuilders at the time, including Arnold Schwarzenegger. Dobbins eventually took over promotional work at the legendary gym and this gained the attention of many within the bodybuilding community, including Joe Weider. He began writing for Muscle & Fitness and was eventually named the founding editor of Flex magazine.
