Winston Roberts passed away on December 21, 2017.

Influential and humble bodybuilding icon Winston Roberts has passed away on December 21, 2017. He was one of the most influential people in bodybuilding history though he may not get the same kind of spotlight attention as the likes of bodybuilding champions like Ronnie Coleman or Phil Heath. He has held the title of Mr. Canada twice and has participated in the Mr. Universe posedowns in the IFBB amateur.

Roberts was currently the president of Winston Roberts Incorporated, which organizes competitions at the local and professional levels in Canada. He has been an IFBB judge at the pro level since 1985.

Carl Cheung, a National Level competitor and OPA judge, made this statement on Winston Roberts’ passing:

“There’s nothing more heart dropping than receiving the sad news this morning, that the great legendary Mr. Winston Robert has passed away. I had the great honored of knowing Winston for many years and traveled to various shows to be judging by his side. He is a man of knowledge not only about the sport, but also about life. I was very lucky to have the pleasure of eating meals with him during our event adventures, laughing with him, receiving much advice over the years and etc. He is what I called an all around achiever, from being legendary in the sport of bodybuilding to family and even career. He always tells great stories about our sport and his life experiences which I really take it to the heart and helped me to be the athlete that I am today. I truly grateful for all his words of wisdom. This man all he ever know is to give and give and give. It’s not often at all he will ask for anything, other than to the athletes to “show me all you got on that stage”! He shared the history of the sport and taught us how to continue carrying that torch for the generations to come. Winston we will always miss your long speech in all the opening ceremony of each show. Your voice will always be in my head and each time I judge a show will never be the same without you near by. Your like a family to me and us all. RIP
