A great deal of beef is swirling around in the mixed martial arts world these days.

Retired UFC veteran Brendan Schaub had some choice words to say about his former employer Dana White for elevating a fighter with a shady past while barring another from achieving their dream. Conor McGregor also reignited his beef with Paulie Malignaggi after a taking a few jabs at the boxer on Twitter.

A great deal has already been said about Greg Hardy being allowed a chance to compete in the UFC. The former NFL player turned mixed martial artist has had a storied history of violence and misconduct for years now yet has been given the opportunity to compete on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Greg Hardy was featured twice during the season, likely for increased viewership.

Another well known figure in the mixed martial arts world also competed on the Contender Series. Nick Newell, born with only one fully developed arm, was also featured on the web series, battling for a chance to win a contract in the UFC. Where Greg Hardy was successful in defeating two relatively unknown fighters, Nick Newell failed to take out a supremely talented top prospect Alex Munoz. Dana White recently stated that it was unlikely that he’d give Nick Newell another chance to earn a UFC contract while stating that Greg Hardy will be continue to work with the organization through a developmental deal.

It does truly seem unfair, especially when you compare Greg Hardy who has a less than pleasant past to the hard working Nick Newell who has had to overcome the odds through his entire life. Dana White should perhaps reconsider his stance on supporting individuals with less than scrupulous pasts over those who have a clean background as well as could be an ambassador for the sport.
