After being reported last week that Chael Sonnen’s newborn daughter “Blauna Dian Sonnen” was born 10 weeks premature due to an infection called “Listeria, it has now been confirmed that 2nd child of the Sonnen family, has died. A rep for the family put out the following statements:
“I am very sad to confirm the passing of Chael Sonnen’s baby daughter, Blauna Dian Sonnen,” Sonnen’s MMA rep told FOX411. “An investigation is underway as to how Brittany and Blauna were infected with Listeria. We are informed that two food product recalls occurred earlier this year in the Northwest region due to Listeria. “The family hopes to prevent any other families from contracting the disease. Representatives for the Sonnen family have already communicated with local, state and federal agencies.”
He also confirmed that Chael Sonnen’s wife (Brittany Sonnen) remains very “ill” and that the family has called for “privacy during this very difficult time.” Whether you love or hate the human radio that is Chael Sonnen, we’re sure everyone’s heart goes out to him during this very difficult time. They call it the fight “game” for a reason, because even though the consequences are very real, and one punch can deem you a victor or a defeated, ultimately it’s not life and death. While fighting may seem like the most important thing on that day, week, or month, when something like this happens, you realize what’s truly important, what actually is at the soul of a person. Don’t get me wrong that gold strap captures the human spirit, it’s at the heart of what a competitor strives for, but to be able to tuck your daughter in at night, now that’s the real prize.
