Norris began competing and won many martial arts championships at a young age. This was also an avenue into his next venture — acting. Bruce Lee called for Norris to play a role in the 1972 film The Way of the Dragon. After this film, he began taking acting seriously and would appear in more over the next few years.
Norris would go onto become an international superstar after roles in many independently made films that turned into blockbusters. Workout Notes
Make Sure to Hit Ideal Heart Rate
Chuck Norris expressed the important of hitting your ideal heart rate for 20-30 minutes four times a week. The ideal heart rate changes for each person. He shared a formula to find yours and it is as follows:
Subtract your age from 220, multiply that by 0.6, multiply the original number again by 0.9, and the range between the two is your target heart rate.
Stretching
It is important to prioritize stretching either before or after your workout. For Norris, he stretches following his workouts for one part but stretches before his martial arts movements. And if you sprinkle in cardio, taking care of your body is more than key for overall health and longevity. Stretching will promote muscle growth while aiding in recovery and proper rest for your body.
Importance of Pool Exercises
Norris takes his exercises to the pool to perform kicks, but why? He states that the pool beings benefits such as the combination of cardio with strength training. Water adds extra resistance and this makes the aerobics a challenge. Pool exercises will provide 12 times the resistance of air and this requires the muscles to work harder than usual.
