Conor McGregor is back in the news as he Tweets that he will be fighting Manny Pacquiao.
After news broke that he was arrested in Spain due to sexual assault allegations, it appeared that things looked downhill for the former two-division UFC champion. In the wake of the allegations which have been vehemently denied, Conor McGregor has announced that he will be facing Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East.
Anyway all water under the bridge who gives a fook.
I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) September 25, 2020
This comes on the heels of Conor McGregor releasing DMs between himself and Dana White. Apparently McGregor was trying to set up bouts throughout 2020 but nothing came to fruition. This then prompted his Tweet as seen above.
I was pushing hard for the season.
Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered throughout. All to take place back to back.
Then when covid hit and the talk was that I would have to wait for crowds again, I walked away from the situation. I was waiting long enough at that stage.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) September 25, 2020
Sean Gibbons, Manny Pacquiao Promotions President, had this to say about a potential bout with Conor McGregor.
“The Senator Manny Pacquiao has always been up for new challenges,” said Sean Gibbons. “Conor McGregor showed in his fight with Floyd Mayweather he has the skills to fight with the best boxers in the world, and considering that they are both global icons and in the global landscape we live in today would be a tremendous event.”
We’ll continue to keep a close on this turn of events. Do you think Conor McGregor will really battle Manny Pacquiao in a boxing match?
