Conor McGregor Retires From MMA…Again. Is he Telling the Truth?

Is Conor McGregor done with MMA?

So apparently Conor McGregor has decided to call it a career. A recent tweet by Conor McGregor suggests that the MMA superstar and former two-division UFC champion is done with mixed martial arts.

This comes as a major shock to the MMA community, especially considering the fact that McGregor appeared to be itching for a fight just last week. Despite that fact, It’s entirely possible that Conor McGregor has simply had enough of the art of pugilism and would rather spend his time growing his whiskey company than putting in grueling hours in the gym preparing for battle. Can you blame him.

Dana White himself has said that he believes the retirement could be on the level. According to the UFC President, Conor McGregor is rolling in so much dough right now that motivation to go to war in the octagon is seeming less and less appealing by the day.

While the announcement is indeed shocking and could be true, something about it brings back memory of the time when Conor McGregor suggested he was done with the game before.

Conor McGregor would subsequently go on to win a rematch with Nate Diaz, knock out Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight title, and eventually set up the super fight with boxing star Floyd Mayweather. Sounds like a pretty busy schedule for a retired fighter.

Nevertheless, the circumstances are somewhat different than McGregor’s first retirement announcement. With so much money in his bank account, it stands to reason that Conor McGregor really could be finished with the game for good. But this can just as easily be a negotiating tactic. For now, let’s assume Conor McGregor is done with fighting for good. But don’t be surprised if he comes back for a super fight or two.

So what do you make of this retirement? Do you think Conor McGregor is done with MMA?
