CrossFit announced the news of the change in location on Tuesday afternoon!
The 2025 CrossFit Games has a new home.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the event will take place in Albany, NY from August 1-3. The three-day event will run at the MVP Arena, which holds 15,000 fans.
CrossFit CEO Don Faul issued a statement with the announcement:
“The CrossFit Games represents the culmination of our season and it is an important moment for our community to come together to celebrate its shared love for CrossFit.”
Beginning in 2007, the CrossFit Games has been held in many places. Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI has been a notable location, hosting the event six times since 2017. Last year, the event was moved to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX. During the competition, Lazar Dukic died tragically while competing. It was unlikely that the 2025 rendition would return to Texas following this.
The move to Albany will give CrossFit fans in the Northeast a chance to come see their favorite athletes.
“We have a large and passionate community of affiliates in the Northeast region, especially New York States, and we expect Albany to be the perfect place to convene our entire community.”
There will be three Open Workout sessions taking place from Feb. 27-March 17. Individual In-Affiliate Semifinals will take place from May 1-4 with qualifying events occurring in April through June. This will all lead up to the final games in the beginning of August.
The press release also featured comments from from Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy:
“We’re excited to welcome the CrossFit Games to the MVP Arena. This is an amazing opportunity to host incredible athletes from around the world and showcase an emerging sport and fitness regimen. The three-day event is a fantastic opportunity to bring new visitors to the Capital Region and our capital city of Albany.”
