Dr. Testosterone talks about the harsh realities of being a pro bodybuilder and using steroids.

Last week, we spoke with Dr. Testosterone on his stance about where doctors should fall in the world of steroid use and bodybuilding. In our follow up segment, we go into more detail about PEDs in bodybuilding. Is there a way for competitive bodybuilders to not abuse steroids and still succeed? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Dr. Testosterone explains how it’s impossible for a pro bodybuilder to be successful without abusing steroids.

It’s a known fact that steroids are not inherently bad. They are often prescribed in the United States for a wide variety of medical reasons – mostly related to recovering from disease or serious injuries such as burns. But athletic use of steroids is a very different thing entirely. The doses required for improving recovery, strength, and size go far beyond what a doctor would typically prescribe.

Knowing this, we wanted to ask Dr. Testosterone point blank – is there a safe way for bodybuilders to use steroids? Dr. T has an interesting perspective as he was once a bodybuilder who is now a certified doctor. He makes it very clear that during his time bodybuilding – his health was not a top priority – winning was the most important factor. He believes that this is the way most athletes view their health as they try and compete for success.

But it’s not just athlete mentality that takes the safety out of steroid use. Dr. Testosterone makes it very clear – in order to be a successful pro bodybuilder, a competitor must not only use steroids but also abuse them to an extreme level. By abuse, Dr. T is referencing consuming doses that are far beyond what is typically prescribed by doctors.

So what does Dr. Testosterone do when he speaks to his patients who are aspiring bodybuilders? He simply tells them the truth. There are risks involved in using steroids to improve your physique. Ultimately, a bodybuilder will pay the price for their vanity. That’s all Dr. Testosterone can do. Let them know the facts. At the end of the day, the athlete will do whatever they please. Doctors can’t force individuals not to use dangerous drugs – even if they are illegal. The only thing doctors can do is not prescribe them.

This circles us back to our previous interview segment with Dr. Testosterone. Since he can only tell clients the truth about steroids but not stop clients from using them, he makes it his mission to try and help make the sport as safe as possible for an athlete. While a doctor cannot condone the use of steroids, they can certainly help them stay as safe as possible during use to prevent the worse case scenario in the long term.
