Eddie Hall responded to Thor’s incredible lift with praise and respect.
Strongman legend Eddie Hall knows what it’s like to lift more than anyone else in the world. The former World’s Strongest Man champion has held the deadlift world record in the past, which now belongs to Hafthor Bjornsson.

On Saturday, Thor competed at the 2025 World Deadlift Championships and set his sights on resetting the bar once again. He did just that by setting a new world record with a 510kg (1,124.4lb) deadlift at Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England. Following the lift, Hall sent a message about the accomplishment.
“For Thor, I honestly think that 510 he did is probably touching the iceberg. I think there’s more there, and I’ve got to respect that. And I do respect that, I’ll always respect that.”
Hall and Bjornsson have a long history together. The two went head-to-head in Strongman competitions before stepping in the ring together back in 2022. It was an extremely successful boxing match for the duo but Hall claims he did not receive his seven-figure payday from the event — and he believes Bjornsson was part of it. While there is some bad blood between the two, Hall decided to take the high road about Thor’s lift.

Eddie Hall Speaks on Hafthor Bjornsson’s Lift
Hall previously held the world record deadlift of 500kg, becoming the first person to reach this mark. Hafthor Bjornsson would go onto beat this mark by one kilogram before reaching 505kg this year. Over the weekend, Thor continued to raise the bar and believes he can go even higher.
Hall acknowledged his differences with Thor but showed respect for greatness.
“We may not see eye to eye as a person, but I’ll always respect what he can do and that he is strong. I’ll never deny that. He’s strong and an amazing athlete. So, I give the respect where it’s due, and that’s the best way to be. There no point in me being sour.”
Hafthor Bjornsson continues to raise the bar and is doing it with an extreme amount of weight added on. If that continues, he has a chance to reach some heights that no one will touch for quite some time — and that means 550kg could be on the horizon for Thor.
Eddie Hall Talks Beef With Hafthor Bjornsson
Back in their 2022 boxing match, it was extremely successful between Hall and Thor. The duo was promised a seven-figure payday each but Hall claims that the end of the bargain was not kept up — and he believes Bjornsson was part of it.
