The bodies of the couple were found on Thursday afternoon after “She Hulk” bodybuilder was attacked with hammer.
Bodybuilder Zunilda Hoyos Mendez was found dead alongside her partner, Jarrod Gelling, on Thursday afternoon at her rented home in Costa del Sol.
Police arrived on scene and found the Colombia bodybuilding champion beaten to death with a hammer next to Gelling, who authorities believe died from “self-inflicted stab wounds.”
Mendez, who had been missing since last week, had decided to divorce Gelling. Relatives described Gelling as “aggressive” and believed he would lash ot after learning about the decision. According to Mendez’s niece, she was going to help Gelling with a knee operation before er next competition in Portugal. She was then planning to return to Dubai alone.
“She had taken the decision to split from her husband because of his aggressive behavior. They had broken up already once and were apart for quite awhile but then got back together again to try to resolve things, although the mistreatment continued.”
Mendez’s gym partner claimed he had not seen or heard from her since Thursday, which caused a stir given the pair trained everyday. About five days ago, there was a suspicious post from Mendez’s Instagram account as well.
