There’s a lot of things going on in the news today, so let’s dig in.
Nick Diaz Suspension Reduced In his second meeting with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), Nick Diaz was granted a reduced suspension and fine for failing a drug test after his bout against Anderson Silva in January 2015. After slapping Diaz with a 5 year suspension with a fine of $165,000, the commission has seemed to have a change of heart reducing the fighter’s time off to 18 months and a $100,000 fine. It truly seems absurd at this point, especially considering how close the country is to potentially legalizing marijuana, but I’m pretty sure Diaz isn’t arguing the NSAC’s decision. The next ONE Championship Card Announced! The next event for ONE Championship, ONE Championship 37: Clash of Heroes, will take place on Januarary 29 at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The bout is to be headline by ONE featherweight veterans Eric Kelly (12-1) and Ev Ting (10-3). The two men are on solid winning streaks and the winner will likely receive a title shot with a victory on the 29th. The card also features Filipino standout Eduard Folayang (14-5) against rising Japanese prospect Tetsuya Yamada (15-3-2). ONE Championship 37: Clash of Heroes Card

B.J. Penn challengers Nik Lentz If you thought that B.J. Penn was done with MMA then you’re sorely mistaken. The former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion has issued an official challenge to Nik Lentz. To make matters even more interesting, it seems that Penn is headed to Jackson-Winklejohn MMA to prepare for the potential match up. The bout isn’t official yet, but it would be great to see Penn return to the cage with a considerably superior performance to his last fight against Frankie Edgar to close out his historic career.
