Floyd Mayweather Jr. has announced that he is heading back into the ring… to fight YouTuber Logan Paul.
Retired former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be facing Logan Paul on February 20th for a special exhibition match. The news was first announced on Mayweather’s Instagram account on Sunday, December 6th, 2020.

The match will be streamed as a pay-per-view starting at $24.99 for the first million purchases. After that the price will increase as the date gets closer. The price will rise as high as $69.99 starting February 11.
This is not Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s first special exhibition boxing match. In 2017, he faced off against former UFC champion Conor McGregor. The fight was sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. This made the match Mayweather’s official record ultimately 50-0 with 27 knockouts. The fight was Conor McGregor’s boxing debut.
On the flip side, Logan Paul fought fellow YouTuber KSI in 2019 for a six-round fight also sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. KSI won in a split decision.

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Paul Logan fight continues the trend of increasingly frequent special event fights designed to draw in a bigger crowd than traditional boxing matches as of late.
With the past fights being so successful, it’s likely that we will continue to see fights like these. This will be especially true if this fight brings in a massive amount of viewership – which is very likely considering the caliber and following of the two fighters.
Beyond boxing, Logan Paul also had a brief stint in the viral sport of slap contest fighting. Though Paul ultimately did not fight in a competition – he expressed great interest and respect for the underground sport. Bringing further attention and spotlight to its growing popularity.
