Forbes’ 2018 Highest Paid Athletes Includes Rivals Floyd Mayeather and Conor McGrgegor

Reaching the pinnacle of your chosen sport can be punctuated by championship victories, securing all time stats, and any number of personal goals particular to the individual. All that said, for many success is all about dollars and cents. Forbes has released the 2018 edition of their World’s Highest Paid Athletes list and in the top five are two very familiar combat sports figures.


Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor crossed paths last August in a match that was much anticipated by the public. While it may not have been the absolute spectacle that some fight fans had hoped for, it still showcased that the two men know how to draw a crowd. That same ability has allowed the two combat sports icons to break into the top five.

Below is a list of the top ten highest paid athletes out of a list of 100.

  8. Stephen Curry ($76.9 million)
  9. Matt Ryan ($67.3 million)
  10. Matthew Stafford ($59.5 million)
