Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez 2 Scheduled For May 5

Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez are set to go to war once again.

With the their first bout ending in a disappointing draw, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez are set to run it back in a rematch scheduled for May 5, 2018. While the first match was held in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the location of the rematch has yet to be determined.

Many onlookers were divided on the outcome of the bout leading to the conclusion that a draw wasn’t necessarily out of the question. While two of the three judges entered in scorecards indicating a close match up, the score delivered by judge Adalaide Byrd was so unpopular that it nearly overshadowed the outcome itself.

In terms of the odds, it appears that Gennady Golovkin is already the betting favorite over Canelo Alvarez which isn’t too surprising. After all, a large contingent of the bodybuilding community believed that Golovkin deserved to get the nod the first time around.

Now that the rematch has been slated for Cinco de Mayo, fans will finally have the opportunity to see a definitive finale to this match. However, you have to wonder if a third match up will be on deck no matter the outcome. Only time will tell.

Who do you think wins the rematch?
