Greek Bodybuilding Champion Narrowly Survives Motorcycle Accident

Greek bodybuilding champion Giannis Tsagarakis, narrowly avoided death a few weeks ago.

He was riding his motorcycle on a usual drive down to Heraklion, Crete, when he lost control at high speed. The motorcycle overturned and Giannis was cast to the ground – causing him several injuries.

According to Parapolitikakretis, the crash was witnessed by several onlookers, most of whom thought that Giannis was dead upon impact. According to the emergency response team (EAKB), the only thing that saved Giannis’s life was his helmet. The EAKB rushed Giannis to the the Venizelou General Hospital of Heraklion, where he was hospitalized for several days in the Intensive Care Unit.

Now Giannis, father of three, feels extremely blessed to be discharged and recovering at home – he posted a picture of his crushed watch, stuck at 13:29, with the caption:

“At the time of time … for some reason, the date of death was postponed … Thanks all my friends…”.

Giannis has won multiple regional bodybuilding shows including, most recently, Mr Kretis. He said that his near-death experience gave him precious perspective:

“Most people have experienced the sudden loss of a loved one in a road accident. Despite this, many people think they will never experience such an incident… yet a few days ago I realized how easily and how close to death we are all of us.

“I will never forget the horrified eyes of my own people and especially the eyes of my three children when I left the ICU of the hospital. It is not worth momentary recklessness see sadness painted on your loved ones’ faces.”

The bodybuilding champion also extended his warmest thanks to the doctors and nurses who attended him in the hospital.

“I would like to say my warmest thanks, to the nursing staff, to the doctors of the Venizelion General Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, and to all of the ICU nursing staff… I thank them from heart. “
