Nutrition can be an athlete’s best friend or worst enemy. Depending on what you choose to eat you can see yourself making some crazy gains in the gym or just gaining nothing but fat. The best way to ensure that you’ll be getting the most out of your workouts is by eating a balanced diet that will benefit your muscle growth and energy levels. Nutrition is also integral in recovering from a tough day in the gym. Rest is obviously a big part of recovery, but if you’re eating crap food you won’t recovering as fast as you possibly could.

These days we have so many resources that can aid us in our meal planning endeavors. We can calculate exactly how much food we should be eating and in what amounts. We can plan out the amount of carbs, protein, and fats we need to include into our diet plan in order to burn fat and build muscle. It makes you wonder just exactly how we were able to come up with the right nutrition plan before having tools to measure out exactly what we should be putting into our bodies. Just how did the old school bodybuilders manage to make diet plans that worked for them?

You guys all know Ric Drasin. We posted one of his other videos about split training just yesterday. And we just had to again because, well – Ric Drasin is a man who knows his stuff. He touches on a number of subjects that can is beneficial to younger bodybuilders, giving a window into how things were conducted back in the golden age of bodybuilding. The retired bodybuilder has spoke on a large range of topics including how bodybuilders used to plan out their training splits in the 70’s. Well, it also appears that Drasin had some things to say about bodybuilder nutrition from his time training with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the many other greats in the past.
