The IFBB Pro League handed down a new rule recently and it caused plenty of conversation.
The IFBB Pro League shared a new rule over the weekend that has caused plenty of controversy and conversation around the bodybuilding world.
The new rule, shared on the IFBB Pro League website, will impact competitors who are inactive for three years or more. It states that a bodybuilder who is inactive for three years will lose his/her pro status if not renewed their membership.

Lee Priest became one of the first to comment on the new rule, blaming the IFBB rather than the athletes.
“The IFBB is to blame for your thing with the pro cards. They opened up the floodgates, giving them out to everyone like candy. They’re trying to put it back in the barn. It’s the IFBB’s fault, not the athletes.”
Priest continued to discuss how the IFBB has not been enforcing certain standards for athletes.
“They train hard to go into a show. They might win the USA but they might win the nationals but the qualities are not there to get a Pro card just because these shows offer a Pro card.”
Jay Cutler Comments On New Rules
During a recent episode of Cutler Cast, Jay Cutler became the latest to share his opinions on the new rule.
“The issue I see, and this is the complaint from a lot of people, is yes, the IFBB Pro status, it doesn’t carry the weight it once carried.”
Cutler compares it to a realtor having their license and what happens when it expires. The idea of having a Pro status can be used as a marketing tool as well.
“A realtor, if you don’t pay your license and let it expire. If you’re advertising yourself as an IFBB whatever, if you’re using it, remember it’s still leverage for a lot of people. I can understand that you’re still paying, you’re still representing, you’re using it as a marketing piece.”
