Jeff Nippard Ranks Best and Worst Peptides

Jeff Nippard Ranks Best and Worst Peptides

Fitness expert Jeff Nippard breaks down popular peptides for weight loss, injury recovery, and anti-aging, revealing which ones actually have science on their side.

Peptides have become one of the hottest topics in the fitness industry, with athletes and everyday gymgoers increasingly turning to compounds promising everything from rapid fat loss to faster recovery and longer lifespans. But which ones actually work?

Fitness expert and natural bodybuilder Jeff Nippard recently shared his rankings of some of the most popular peptides, separating those backed by scientific research from others that he believes are largely driven by hype.

In a YouTube Short, Nippard evaluated several compounds using a tier system ranging from S, the highest ranking, to F, the lowest. His list included popular weight-loss medications such as Ozempic and tirzepatide, the controversial recovery compound BPC-157, and several substances marketed for anti-aging.

Preferred source

Interestingly, Nippard reserved his highest ranking for something that isn’t a peptide at all.

Jeff Nippard Ranks Best and Worst Peptides

Nippard began with semaglutide, the active ingredient in medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy. The drug works by activating GLP-1 receptors, helping suppress appetite and making it easier for individuals to consume fewer calories.

He pointed to research demonstrating significantly greater weight loss when semaglutide is combined with diet and exercise compared to lifestyle changes alone.

However, Nippard also warned about potential muscle loss, particularly among individuals who fail to incorporate resistance training and adequate protein into their routines.

“But, you will lose muscle if you don’t lift weights and eat enough protein, and nausea and diarrhea are quite common,” Nippard explained.

He also cautioned against already lean individuals using the medication simply to achieve an even more shredded physique.

For appropriate patients under medical supervision, Nippard placed semaglutide in the A tier.

Next was tirzepatide, the active ingredient in medications including Mounjaro and Zepbound. Unlike semaglutide, tirzepatide activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, producing substantial reductions in appetite and body weight.

Nippard gave tirzepatide an A-tier ranking as well, citing its effectiveness for weight management when used in the proper medical context.

Retatrutide and BPC-157 Receive Lower Rankings

Nippard then examined retatrutide, an experimental weight-loss drug that activates three receptors: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon.

Early clinical research has demonstrated substantial weight-loss potential, with results suggesting it could eventually become one of the most powerful obesity treatments available.

However, because retatrutide remains investigational and has not received FDA approval, Nippard placed it in the B tier.

He was considerably more skeptical of BPC-157, commonly referred to as the “Wolverine peptide” because of claims that it can accelerate healing and injury recovery.

The compound has gained popularity in bodybuilding circles, particularly among athletes dealing with tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries.

Nippard acknowledged promising animal research, including findings showing increased blood vessel formation following injuries in rats. However, he emphasized the lack of substantial human research.

“And it’s only actually ever been studied in 30 humans, ever,” Nippard said.

He also noted that anecdotal recovery stories are difficult to evaluate because many injuries improve naturally over time.

Without stronger clinical evidence and reliable quality control, Nippard placed BPC-157 in the low C tier.

Anti-Aging Compounds Fall to the Bottom

Nippard was even less impressed by peptides marketed for longevity.

He examined epitalon and MOTS-c, two compounds that have attracted attention for their potential effects on aging and cellular function.

While animal studies have suggested possible benefits, Nippard emphasized that these findings have not translated into reliable evidence demonstrating longer lifespans in humans.

As a result, both compounds landed in the F tier.

Nippard also discussed NAD+, a coenzyme involved in cellular energy production that has become increasingly popular in the anti-aging industry.

Although NAD+ is not technically a peptide, it is frequently promoted alongside peptide therapies and longevity treatments.

Nippard argued that the available human evidence supporting its anti-aging benefits remains weak, earning it a D-tier ranking.

Jeff Nippard’s Complete Peptide Rankings

Here is how Nippard ranked each compound in his breakdown:

  • S Tier: Exercise
  • A Tier: Semaglutide, tirzepatide
  • B Tier: Retatrutide
  • C Tier: BPC-157
  • D Tier: NAD+
  • F Tier: Epitalon, MOTS-c

The rankings reflect Nippard’s assessment of the available evidence, effectiveness, and safety considerations rather than a definitive medical evaluation of each substance.

Why Exercise Earned Jeff Nippard’s Only S-Tier Ranking

Nippard saved his highest ranking for the end of the video, revealing that his top choice wasn’t a peptide, medication, or supplement.

It was exercise.

“This last one isn’t technically a peptide either, but it can help you look fitter, healthier, it can heal your injuries, and help you live longer. Exercise. I’m putting it in S tier.”

The conclusion reinforced Nippard’s broader message that proven fitness fundamentals remain more reliable than experimental compounds promising dramatic physical transformations.

While medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide have demonstrated meaningful benefits for appropriate patients, many substances marketed for injury recovery and longevity still lack sufficient human research.

For bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts, Nippard’s rankings serve as a reminder that resistance training, proper nutrition, and consistent exercise remain essential components of long-term health and performance.
