Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow added 10 pounds of new muscle during the offseason.
Joe Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his wrist late in the 2023 season that sidelined him for the remain of the year. He rehabbed his injury and returned to full strength in the offseason with hopes of adding some extra size to his frame. During a recent discussion with Men’s Health, the Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback explained how he added 10 pounds of muscle.
“The biggest thing for me this year is just being out there with the guys.”
Burrow burst onto the scene in college when he led a legendary offense at LSU to a National Championship in 2019. He went onto become the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to the Bengals. The team has become a staple in the AFC with Burrow under center, including a trip to the Super Bowl in 2022. Last season, the team struggled when Burrow went down and he is determined to remain on the field this season.
Burrow went in detail on how he changed his diet plan but also his mentality this offseason.

Joe Burrow Adds 10 Pounds Of New Muscle
Joe Burrow began strength training in high school when he first realized he was putting on size. Over the years, he has found what works for him in the gym but continued to make changes this offseason, beginning with his diet. Burrow found new hydration techniques, aside from water.
“This is the first year I focused on drinking electrolytes and making sure that my body absorbs those nutrients as opposed to just drinking water.”

Joe Burrow has built a clean diet during his time in the NFL but focused even more on finding quality sources to gain nutrients.
Aside from the physical aspect of training, Burrow was able to build even more toughness mentally.
“If you’re doing really hard stuff that you’re not sure you can push through, when you push through it, then once you’re in that spot again, you know your mind is going to be a lot stronger in that situation.”
The Bengals enter the season with hopes of making it back to the Super Bowl. If Burrow is healthy and on the field, this is a realistic target for one of the best teams in the AFC. Burrow trained both his body and mind hard this offseason to make sure he is on the field each week.
