Fitness influencer Joey Swoll has been cleared by doctors to resume training after being hospitalized earlier this month due to heart-related health concerns.

Popular fitness influencer Joey Swoll is back in the gym after a frightening health scare landed him in the hospital earlier this month. Swoll, who has built a massive social media following through his efforts to promote positive gym culture, shared an encouraging update on October 13, revealing that he has been discharged and cleared to resume light workouts.

Swoll went to the hospital on October 3 after experiencing heart-related health issues. It was another scare for his fans after a history of medical complications involving his heart.

However, Swoll appears to be making progress in his recovery and wasted little time returning to the gym once he received medical clearance.

Joey Swoll Returns to Training After Hospitalization

In an October 13 Instagram Reel, Swoll shared footage of himself performing a chest and triceps workout, marking his return to training following his hospitalization.

While the fitness personality is known for his dedication to weightlifting, he emphasized that he is taking a cautious approach as he continues recovering.

“Cleared by my doctor to return back to the gym, so I hit some chest and triceps,” Swoll wrote. “I kept it light and I am taking it easy as I recover.”

Swoll also expressed his appreciation for the support he received during his time in the hospital.

“Thank you all so much, for all the love and support this past week!” he wrote.

“Lying in the hospital, it was amazing to read all the positive comments and prayers. I’m SO grateful to have such an incredible community.”

The post quickly attracted encouraging responses from followers who were relieved to see him back doing what he loves.

Although Swoll has returned to lifting weights, he has not provided a detailed explanation of the medical issue that led to his latest hospitalization.

Joey Swoll Has Experienced Previous Heart-Related Health Scares

This is not the first time Swoll has dealt with serious medical concerns.

In January 2023, he underwent a heart procedure to address an irregular heartbeat. His health became a concern again in April 2024 following complications from another routine procedure, when a piece of medical equipment reportedly broke off inside his body.

His latest hospitalization on October 3 brought renewed attention to those earlier incidents. Swoll asked his followers for prayers and support as he dealt with the situation.

While his return to the gym is a positive development, Swoll has made it clear that he is not rushing back into intense training.

Joey Swoll Continues to Promote Positive Gym Culture

Swoll has become one of the fitness industry’s most recognizable social media personalities through his efforts to encourage respect, accountability, and inclusivity in gyms.

His videos frequently address inappropriate behavior in fitness facilities, including people who mock beginners, record others without permission, or attempt to shame fellow gymgoers online.

His “Do better,” catchphrase has helped him build a substantial following across social media platforms.

That same community has rallied around Swoll during his recent health challenges, offering encouragement and support throughout his hospitalization and recovery.

For now, Swoll’s focus appears to be on regaining his health while gradually returning to his regular fitness routine.

His latest update is welcome news for followers who have been concerned about his condition since the beginning of October.
