Julius Maddox will be attempting to set the new world record for bench press by lifting 800lbs.
Yesterday, World’s Ultimate Strongman (WUS) announced that Julius Maddox will attempt the long anticipated 363kg/800lb bench press on July 27th as part of the “Feats of Strength” series.
The series is about strongmen and strongwomen attempting new world records in their preferred discipline. Some other world records attempts in the series include Hafthor Bjornsson’s 501kg.1,104lb deadlift, Luke Stoltman’s 229kg/505lb log lift, Tom Stoltman’s 273kg/602lb Atlas stone, and Rhianon Lovelace’s 140kg/309lb Atlas stone at lightweight.
Julius’ attempt will be broadcasted live via CoreSports.
Julius has been anticipating hitting the new record since February. “The new all-time world record raw bench will be 800 pounds by the beginning of June” he said in a phone conversation.
Last September, Maddox became the all-time bench press world record holder with a 335kg/740lb lift. He broke his own all-time world record twice.
He broke the first world record in November at the World Raw Powerliftng Federation (WRPF) Rob Hall Classic with 337kg/744lb lift. Soon after he hit a personal best of 342kg/755lb lift in the gym. In this past February he set a new personal best of 347kg/765lb push.
Maddox recently set the current world record bench press at the Xtreme Powerlifting Coalition (XPC) Slingshot Showdown at the Arnold Sports Festival last month with an earth shaking 350kg/770lb lift.
