It appears that Keone Pearson is sitting out the 2020 Olympia.
After an impressive showing at the Chicago Pro, where he qualified for the Olympia, Keone Pearson is taking a step back from competition. Many had thought he would go on to compete at the biggest bodybuilding event of the year. But Pearson appears to have other plans.
“I just wanted to come on here and let you guys know, I will not be attending the Olympia this year due to mental stress, physical stress. I’m dealing with a few mental battles right now and I’m just not there 100%.”
According to Pearson, he felt the pressure to compete and even almost pulled out of the Chicago Pro. It’s definitely a positive thing that the talented up and comer is able to speak candidly about his mental health. We are not robots after all and it’s good acknowledge these kind of hurdles as human beings.
“I think that’s how a lot of people lose a love for the sport because we do it for the wrong reasons.”
Keone Pearson touches on some very important points, namely investing time in taking care of your mental and physical well being.
“Do this shit because you want to; because you love it. When you feel like you’re falling apart from bodybuilding and you’re losing the love, take a breath, take your time, and just re-evaluate why you’re doing this, and why you started in the first place.”
