Marcello De Angelis will return to Classic Physique in hopes of accomplishing new goals.
Bodybuilder Marcello De Angelis has been competing in Men’s Open since he earned his Pro Card but plans to make a move. On Monday morning, De Angelis, known as Horse MD, announced that he will be moving to Classic Physique.
De Angelis originally planned to compete in Classic Physique. He is a former Mr. Universe champion with plenty more to accomplish. He also took home the Panamericano title, along with two Sulamericano titles and four Brasileiro gold medals. He earned his Pro Card in 2021 in the Classic Physique division but was not interested in cutting weight. This led to a decision being made.
Horse MD was slated in Classic Physique in the Musclecontest Brazil but came in too heavy for his height. He needed to be under 101kg but came in at 104.8, which is nearly seven pounds more than needed. This left many wondering if Horse MD would drop the weight or make the move up. In July 2022, he announced a move to Men’s Open.

Marcello De Angelis Making Move to Classic Physique
Marcello De Angelis took to Instagram to make this announcement. He highlighted longevity and quality of life when deciding to make the jump.
“Now I’m part of the @wpink.brteam and I’m here to announce that I’m changing to the CLASSIC PHYSIQUE category to align my professional, personal and athlete life in one direction, more quality of life and longevity still competing at the highest level representing Brazil and now WPINK! Let’s get the spot and show what I’ve always brought, compete having a social and professional life outside of the stages!”
Shortly after earning his Pro Card, Horse MD was hospitalized with a virus a few weeks ago that left him severely dehydrated. The virus itself is unknown but he was treated with a Saline drop to help with the dehydration. Following this stay in the hospital, De Angelis failed to make weight in Brazil when he was scheduled to appear on stage. He was slated in Classic but had to make the move up.
De Angelis made his Men’s Open debut at the 2023 Romania Muscle Fest Pro, finishing third behind Samson Dauda and Behrooz Tabani. Now, he will return to Classic Physique and put together an improved physique to compete on stage.
