Watch YouTuber MattDoesFitness Try Conor McGregor’s Workout And Diet

Bodybuilding YouTuber MattDoesFitness takes on fitness challenges of all shapes and sizes, and he just took on a huge one: trying out the workout and diet of Conor McGregor.

Matt Morsia — YouTuber MattDoesFitness — shared a video with fans that showed him trying out the workout routines and diet of Conor McGregor for a whole day. After studying McGregor’s routines and diet recommendations, he did his best to emulate that and put it into place in his own life. You can watch the full video with his results above.

The biggest change in Matt’s lifestyle by far was his diet. He was not allowed to have any processed foods or soda. For dinner, he had a meal he replicated from McGregor’s own Instagram — cod, sweet potato, and asparagus; definitely a staple for many MMA fighters, bodybuilders, and gym enthusiasts around the world.

One highlight of the video is that Matt’s wife makes McGregor’s peanut butter energy balls out of flax seeds, coconut flour, peanut butter, and chia seeds. This is a healthy and nutrient-rich pick-me-up that can energize anyone after a hard workout in the gym. A lot of bodybuilders work out hard in the gym, but their resolve weakens once they’re outside of it. Unhealthy or fatty snacks can be a huge obstacle in anyone’s quest for fitness and the truth is a good diet is one of the fundamental cornerstones of bodybuilding. It’s important to have recipes like this in your back pocket so that, when you do feel like snacking, you can reach for something that’s good for you instead of giving in to temptation and having processed foods.

Another great trick revealed in the video is McGregor’s adherence to bodyweight exercises. These are a great way to get warmed up in between workouts or just keep your body activity and your metabolism going throughout the day. Matt does 1-minute reps of 5 sets of muscle-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, and squats.

Warming up is definitely a neglected part of fitness, one which Matt draws attention to nicely in the video. As an MMA fighter, it’s important to McGregor’s professional skills that he keep himself limber and ready to get in the ring his strongest self. Warming up is a great way to preserve the natural dexterity of the human body and keep your joints at full health.

The other critical reason you should be warming up before you work out, or at the very least keep your body active when you’re outside of the gym, is that it helps prevent injury. For an MMA fighter like McGregor, injuries can potentially cost him millions of dollars in missed fights. For an amateur bodybuilder, the results might be less staggeringly tragic, but injuries are injuries all the same. Keeping your body in the best possible shape helps you be your best, inside the gym and out of it. If you want to minimize injuries and time spent rehabbing away from the gym, warming up is key.
