Max Holloway Mocks Conor McGregor Over New Burger King Commercial

Max Holloway mocks Conor McGregor.

Conor McGregor has not fought in MMA in well over a year, still, some how the Lightweight champion has been able to keep himself relevant. Interim champion Tony Ferguson will fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223, supposedly to decide the new Lightweight champion, and McGregor’s next opponent. However, McGregor’s attention, at least on social media, has been directed towards another fighter – former opponent and current Featherweight champion Max Holloway. McGregor has consistently thrown derogatory tweets and instagram posts his way over the past few months.

But Holloway is more than up for the challenge. On Monday, when McGregor unveiled his new sponsorship with Burger King through social media and a new commercial, Holloway took the opportunity to Tweet back at McGregor.

He also did an interview with Flocombat explaining the relationship.

“He’s been throwing the little jabs here and there. It’s like I said, retired fighters like talking about the past. They’re like your uncle when you’re at the barbecue and your uncle’s like ‘Come here, boy, remember back in my day I could throw this pigskin over the mountain.’ That’s what they do. They talk about the past. They ain’t got nothing to look forward [to], so they talk about their past. That’s what the man’s doing.”

Holloway lost a close decision to McGregor at Featherweight when he was only 21 years old. Since then both men have come to dominate the sport – but Holloway alone is undefeated since. He has implied a move up to lightweight is inevitable, which should put him and McGregor on a collision course. He says McGregor’s team has their eye on him.

”They can talk about the past all they want. They know who the toughest fight is. They know who the best is. The best is ‘Blessed,’ and when he’s ready to put his big boy pants back on, come to a ‘real fight’ in his phrase, then we’ll be here.”

“There’s a lot of matchups for him and it looks like a lot of people want to see Holloway vs. [McGregor] II. I’m right here.”
