Mayweather vs McGregor 2 Is Rumored To Be Agreed On With Modified MMA Rules

Floyd Maywetaher vs Conor McGregor 2 inside the Octagon?

With all the excitement from last week’s insane bus attack, Conor McGregor face and name have been plastered across every news outlet imaginable, MMA focused or not. There’s no denying that Conor McGregor is a huge star, but his antics during the UFC 223 fight week build up was nothing short of thuggish. That said, McGregor has never been talked about more which has led many to believe that his brazen actions were simply a form of publicity.

With all the chaos and media attention, it seems the timing for a rumored bout agreement between McGregor and boxing star Floyd Mayweather couldn’t have come sooner. According to Omar Al Raisi, Editor-In-Chief of the Sports Journal, Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor 2 has been agreed upon with modified rules to accommodate both fighters. Al Raisi’s Tweet about the agreement can be found below.

The initial reaction to this news: hard to believe. Why would McGregor agree to a bout that takes almost every aspect of MMA out of the equation to simply benefit Mayweather? Sure, you could take out elbows and knees and no one would blink an eye. Taking out kicks? That’s something that would be such an overwhelming benefit for McGregor that taking it out would just placate to Mayweather’s desired game plan. You could make this like a Sanda match (Chinese kickboxing with takedowns) and still give the fans the action they desire. The point of a rematch under mixed rules would be to give fans a new experience. Rules like these would essentially just make the rematch another boxing affair with prolonged clinching exchanges.

As of now we can’t be sure if this information is on the money, but for now it at least opens up the idea that legitimate conversations are being had that could see this match come to life.

Do you think Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will have their rematch inside the Octagon?
