Michael Bisping Suggests Yoel Romero Gets “Turned On By Knocking People Out”

Michael Bisping suggets Yoel Romero may get pretty excited after earning his knockouts.

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has had his share of conflict with fellow Middleweights Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero. Although Michael is near retirement, he weighed in on the curious antics following Yoel’s shocking KO of Rockhold on his podcast.

“I don’t take pleasure from seeing somebody knocked out like that, I really don’t. (Rockhold) got knocked out and he just looked so devastated, absolutely crushed.”

After the crushing KO, Yoel went over to Rockhold, clearly still concussed, and began speaking to him, among other things, saying, “I love you.”

“Then to make matters worse, Romero, the guy that just knocked him out, gets in his face, pins him up the fence, has his arms around his shoulders, so Rockhold literally can’t go anywhere. And he’s professing his undying love for him!”

Many fans were troubled over Yoel being allowed to approach Luke right after the knockout. Hopefully the UFC employees don’t allow anything similar to happen again. Bisping, among others, criticized the move,

“Rockhold looks terrified. Romero has his eyes shut, he’s giving him a kiss. Look at Romero, it really looks like he’s making love! It looks like he’s being sexually assaulted.”

Then Bisping began to speculate on the habit:

“I don’t know what it is. He knocks people out — I think maybe Romero gets sexually turned on by knocking people out,” he said. “And there, he just wants to profess his undying love. Is Romero a married man?”

Many are referencing a cultural disconnect to explain Romero’s behavior. As a Cuban, he does bring his own style and energy to every fight. Still, Bisping made the point that directly after a knockout is not the best time to profess love.

“After you knock them out cold, after you have taken away his dreams of being world champion, after you inflicted a lot of violence — the marks are visible, there’s blood in his face, he’s maybe lost some brain cells, he doesn’t know what the f—k is going on — pinning the guy on the Octagon and trying to make out with him is a little bit much.”
