Phil Heath Calls Out Kai Greene For Staying Silent About Mr. Olympia Invite

Phil Heath is speaking his mind on Kai Greene.

Not long ago it was announced that Kai Greene has been given an official Olympia invite and since then speculation has already become rampant. The 2017 Olympia will be missing some pretty big names, marquee names that would help sell the biggest bodybuilding event of the year. As of now there is only one man that can generate the kind of interest in the open weight division to rival Kai Greene and that’s the current reigning Olympia champion Phil Heath.

While Kai Greene remains radio silent on his decision to compete or not, Phil Heath has taken to Twitter to address the issue at hand. From the sounds of things it appears that Heath is well on his way to once again sparking a rivalry with his biggest nemesis.

While some may agree with Phil Heath and his stance on whether Kai Greene should compete or not, the truth of the matter is that the decision is Kai Greene’s to make and no one else. The Olympia needs to sell tickets and the IFBB is banking on the current champion to be the main draw. But on his own, Phil Heath is going to have some trouble selling the show without a chief rival. People want to see true competition and, no offense to the other competitors, Phil Heath hasn’t truly been challenged since competing against Kai back in 2014.

But it’s also important to point out that the IFBB and Phil Heath are expecting Kai Greene to sign a contract at a very close moment to the Mr. Olympia. Many bodybuilders train the entire year in order to be perfect for the September show – should we really expect Kai to sign this and put himself at a disadvantage with a rushed prep? Also – Phil Heath is quick to jump on Kai to sign the contract… but he doesn’t even know what the terms of the contract are. Is it the same that all of the athletes get offered? Are there differences? Phil doesn’t know all of the details – so who is he to say what Kai should or shouldn’t do.

Kai Greene is holding all the cards at this point which puts him in a position of negotiating power. While it’s likely that he may not have been prepared to compete at the Olympia with such short notice, Kai could leverage this invitation into potential big time revenue. But at this point, the chances of ‘The Predator’ bringing his absolute best to the stage is slim to none unless he’s already been hard at work in the gym. Only time will tell how this will all unfold.

Do you agree with Phil Heath or do you think he’s out of line?
