Powerlifter Lifts Vehicle Pinned on Top of Man After Accident

Powerlifter Ryan Belcher is being hailed as a hero for his actions this past Valentine’s Day.

Bodybuilders and powerlifters have often been compared to superheroes in terms of their aesthetic appearance and performance. It appears the comparisons aren’t too far off for a Michigan man who managed to save someone pinned under a vehicle after a traffic accident.

The Michigan hero in question, Ryan Belcher, was finishing up his work day on Thursday February 14 when he heard a loud crash outside. He went outside to find a Jeep Cherokee flipped over with a trapped inside. Luckily for the man, Ryan Belcher is an avid powerlifter, capable of squatting 950 Lbs and deadlifting 800 Lbs. Those strength skills came in handy that day as Ryan Belcher lifted the car off of the trapped man, saving his life in the process.

“I just hear a big smash and, as I look out, a crowd of people are coming and this vehicle is flipped upside down and my first instinct was to just take off out there,” said Ryan Belcher.

Ryan Belcher then did what any concerned individual would do: he went to investigate and see what he could do about the two people involved in the accident.

“As I approached the one vehicle in the middle of the lane, she was awfully bloody and I made sure she was okay and she responded with yes I’m okay,'” Belcher said.

Belcher then turned his attention the man trapped under the Jeep.

“Half of his torso was outside of the vehicle and the other half was still underneath in the vehicle. I had no other choice. It was either save a man or not believe in myself. So I just reached in did what I had to do,” Belcher said.

“Okay, this is where I need to be. This is all the power I’ve used, all the training I’ve been through, this is the time where it’s really going to pay off in a good way to help somebody.”

“I like being called the Hulk, my son’s favorite is the Hulk and he always says my daddy is the Hulk. To say I’m a hero, I don’t know. I’m glad to have been there and I was put there for a reason,” he said.
