These days you’ll find no shortage of talent where the MMA community is concerned. There are so many different martial artists from so many different disciplines that it’s impossible to keep track of who will take their careers to the next level and who will simply fizzle out and become an after thought. The thing is that if you catch talent early enough that you can really end up building a fighter from nothing to something truly special. As a coach myself you always want every one of your students to be improving. From the moment they step on to the mat until the moment they step off you want to be sure that you’re filling their minds and bodies with valuable information they can carry with them outside of the gym. No fighter is perfect, but as long as their dedicated to their craft and looking to increase their knowledge then the possibilities are endless. It’s certainly something a coach like Duane Ludwig must feel every time he teaches his students. Ludwig was an awesome striker back in his heyday but never quite was able to reach the championship level in the UFC. He was talented sure, but was missing a few key elements that would make him into a champion. But that didn’t mean his mind wasn’t filled with a wealth of information on striking, information that he utilized to make TJ Dillashaw a champion. Now it seems that another disciple of Ludwig has high hopes for becoming a future UFC champion as well. If you haven’t heard of Maycee Barber before then you’ve been put on notice. The young talent hopes to become a champion in the future and under the tutelage of Ludwig as well as the Gracie Jiu Jitsu school out of Fort Collins, Barber looks well on her way to becoming a dominating force on the women’s MMA scene. If you have any doubts about it then check out the impressive Instagram video below of Barber showing some tremendous striking ability.
