Robby Robinson Criticizes Modern Bodybuilding After The 2021 Arnold Classic

Robby Robinson isn’t impressed with modern bodybuilding.

It appears that Golden Era bodybuilder and legend Robby Robinson isn’t too happy with the state of modern bodybuilding. Robinson gave his unfiltered critique on bodybuilding in the present day and he doesn’t sound all that impressed.

Modern bodybuilding is a funny thing. In one aspect it’s truly impressive and incredible to witness. The monstrous physiques of those who step on stage is truly a sight to behold. The athletes look inhuman, literally defying what it means to be a human being. The bodybuilders that step on stage look like that could have just as easily stepped out of a Marvel movie.

That said, there’s certainly a major difference in how physiques are built these days. Gone are the days of Golden Era bodybuilders who look to craft incredible physical forms that are well muscled yet symmetrical and lithe. Now massive muscle rules the day. Despite showing an incredible physique and delivering a solid posing routine, Nick Walker is clearly a product of modern bodybuilding; a mass monster with incredible conditioning. Walker looked impressive as a mass monster, but not so much as a classic kind of bodybuilder.

It’s exactly why Robby Robinson has a problem with the game today.

After the 2021 Arnold Classic crowned Nick Walker as champion, bodybuilders including Robby Robinson and Michal Krizo had a lot to say.

Robby Robinson made a number of comments on social media about the event and modern bodybuilding as a whole.

Robby Robinson is the consummate bodybuilding veteran. He has a love and passion for the game that few can comprehend. To this day he has taken the passion and remained in great shape. His coach and insight are truly invaluable. If he thinks there’s an issue with the sport it should certainly be an opinion to be considered.

Modern bodybuilding is certainly filled with some impressive physiques. They are also filled with some freakish physiques as well. While the modern day may never quite be like the Golden Era, the thing is it never will be. Perhaps we should look to Classic Physique as the silver lining and allow modern bodybuilding to be what it is.
