Russky Peru Makes Perfect Run In Washington

This natural bodybuilder is truly impressive.

Under the coaching of Joseph Dimalanta and his wife Summer Vu, Russky Peru had a perfect run in the 2017 National Physique Committee Washington Iron Man Natural Bodybuilding Championships in Seattle, WA. Peru took first place and overall win in the Lightweight Bodybuilding Novice category and first in the the Middleweight Bodybuilding category. And he was the overall Classic Physique first place winner and champion.

“The competition in Seattle was incredibly amazing and the bodybuilding event was very well organized — very fast paced,” he told Pacific Daily News. “There were many staff, so everything went smooth and the room was filled with great, humble athletes.”

“Our team, Physique by Dr. D., did well — everyone placed in their respective divisions. And while many people will recognize those who placed high, I firmly believe that every competitor accomplished something greater than a gold trophy,” said Peru. “I believe that by living a healthy lifestyle and stepping on stage is the ultimate goal for many people and for me.”

Peru went on to express pride for his team.

“I am proud and happy for my teammates. We all felt the motivation and encouragement from each other day by day leading up to the show. Everything he won that night was well deserved, he prepped and was ready for this show ahead of time. He is also my first athlete to ever win an overall title in an NPC show. I have only had class winners in past at different NPC shows my athletes have entered.”

Dimalanta shared his own thoughts on Peru’s performance.

“Russky was a big star at the show that night and he also almost won the overall Open bodybuilding too — this was his first NPC Show and only his second ever bodybuilding competition.” said Dimalanta. “It was also his first trip to the United States so he had an unforgettable experience and I was so happy for him.”

Peru was introduced to bodybuilding through the weightlifting practices of his older brother. Peru fell in love with the sport because of the community and the lifestyle.

A year ago, Peru was taken under the guidance and coaching of  Dimalanta of Lohas Chiropractic clinic.

Peru’s overall lifestyle goal is to stay as lean as possible, put on a few pounds of lean muscle without gaining that much fat — then discuss future shows with his coach.

“I will stay active in the gym, live a healthy lifestyle and stay as natural as I can be. And staying natural meant keeping his diet clean and strict, which Peru says was the more important component of his training.

“I had to make sure I followed what was set up for me. My coach was very hands on with any adjustments that had to be made,” said Peru. “And when he makes adjustments on my diet, I had to make sure I stayed the course. It’s always beneficial to have a training partner to help you push to work harder. I try my best to make my training intense, especially if I’m training alone.”

The first thing Peru did after his win was video call his girlfriend and son.

“They’re the ones who kept me on my feet this whole time. They’re the reasons why I finished strong,” said Peru. “They weren’t able to go with me to Washington so it was very hard for me to stay focused the last few days before the show, but with the push from my girlfriend, things got easier.”
