Shawn Ray criticizes Phil Heath not showing up in any capacity at Olympia 2019.
It looks like Shawn Ray has a few choice words for Phil Heath as he gives a tell all interview with Valuetainment. The outspoken bodybuilder has always refused to mince words and it appears that in this latest interview Shawn Ray isn’t afraid to take aim at any and everyone in the bodybuilding sphere.
In Patrick Bet-David’s latest interview with Shawn Ray, he touches upon the topic of the Olympia brand if if they made a mistake by not convincing Phil Heath to return to the Mr. Olympia 2019 in some form. Not necessarily as a competitor but as a presence, so that one of the biggest names in bodybuilding could still help elevate the Olympia in light of so many big names not competing.
Shawn Ray disagreed. Why? Because he believes that the Mr. Olympia brand doesn’t need Phil Heath.
“The Olympia does not need Phil Heath to make Mr. Olympia… how could Phil Heath miss that contest? Was Phil waiting for the Mr. Olympia to fly a private jet out for him to come out and sit in the audience? …The Olympia will go on whether you have a 7x Olympia sitting in the front row or sitting at home.”

Patrick quickly retorts by calling Shawn Ray arrogant. He understands that Mr. Olympia is an institution – but that also the brand would be bigger if they played ball with the biggest name athletes in their sport.
It’s quite the heated exchange and it’s an interesting watch. But it’s also not a surprise coming from Shawn Ray – a man who proudly holds nothing back when it comes to opinions.
The full interview is quite long – but if you are looking for a preview of Shawn Ray talking about Phil Heath – the official Valuetainment Instagram page posted a snippet of the interview with Shawn showcasing his unfiltered answers to some pretty in-depth questions.
