YouTubers work hard to get views. Bodybuilders work hard to sculpt physiques and win shows.

Every week, Iron Cinema will connect you with Generation Iron director Vlad Yudin. Giving you unprecedented inside access to the creative process behind his the Generation Iron Fitness Network. Get a first hand look at the entire journey of taking Vlad’s creative ideas to the big screen – from stories on set of films like Generation Iron and CT Fletcher all the way to exclusive behind-the-scene looks at our newest GI news and films. This week Vlad talks again with Shawn Ray to talk about why YouTube bodybuilders seem to get more attention than tried and true bodybuilding champions like Phil Heath.

If there’s one thing that frustrates me in the bodybuilding industry, it’s that non competing YouTube bodybuilders get more views, fans, and attention than many top tier champion bodybuilding competitors. Is this because active competitors have to play nice with the IFBB and their sponsors? Or could it be that the personalities just aren’t the same in current champion competitors compared to the likes of Rich Piana, CT Fletcher, and Lee Priest? In the second part of my interview with Shawn Ray, we try to get down to the answer as to why bodybuilding proper can’t get a leg up on YouTube personalities. Watch it above.
