Strongman Ben Williams Hits Impressive 180kg/396lb Axle Clean and Press

Ben Williams shows awesome strength.

Functional strength is the name of the game when it comes to the strongman athlete. Competitions are centered around lifting heavy, awkward objects and doing so with proficiency. Accessory work has its place of course, but not nearly as much as what you’ll see in bodybuilding.

Strength Wars Movie

The top strongman athletes learn how to become powerful forces of nature. One such athlete is Ben Williams. The UK’s Strongest Man semi-finalist has acquired a great deal of strength on his journey.

One of the most difficult lifts in any strength sport are overhead presses. The overhead press requires a great deal of balanced strength. That means strength not only in the upper body and shoulders, but the lower body as well. In order to lift tremendously heavy weights overhead it means a lifter must build every part of their physique to be powerful and explosive.

Ben Williams has done just that.

Recently the UK strongman did a clean and press with an axle bar, one of the more difficult apparatuses to handle. Williams lifted a personal best of 180kg or 396lbs!

Maxle. Fixed. Absolutely rotten exercise, but hit a PB.
180kg Maxle.
