Hadi Choopan and other talented athletes will be unable to compete at the Olympia.

It appears that the Travel Ban enforced by President Donald Trump will have some long lasting effects on members of the bodybuilding community. The controversial Travel Ban that was received less than favorably by a large contingent of US citizens has now been backed by the Supreme Court. This ruling has directly effected one of the most popular names in bodybuilding today, 212 competitor and Iranian native Hadi Choopan.

With hopes of qualifying for the 2018 Olympia at a upcoming show in Portugal, the legalization of the Travel Ban has now ensured that Hadi Choopan would be unable to attend. With the talented Iranian bodybuilder off of the board, it leaves one less challenge for reigning 212 Olympia champion James “Flex” Lewis to face.

This turn of events is truly unfortunate as it forces Hadi Choopan from having a platform to prove if he’s the best bodybuilder in the 212 division today. In general it takes away opportunities for Choopan and other Iranian based athlete looking to take their talents to the international stage. Other talented Iranian bodybuilders such as Jafar Ghafarnejad of the 212 division, Ali Shams Ghamar of the Classic Physique division, and Ali Shams Ghamar of the Men’s Physique division have also been directly effected by these turn of events.

With the Travel Ban now firmly enforced, it could mean that many individuals from foreign nations listed in the ban, including Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somali, Venezuela, and North Korea. All this comes in the wake of the severe treatment of immigrants at the Mexican border garnered media attention for the past few weeks.
