This Former Olympia Champ Is Coaching Liam Kelly And The Next Generation Of Bodybuilders

Being taught by the old school.

Classic physique is steadily growing in popularity these days. While many fans still appreciate the bodybuilders that are overwhelmingly massive, there is still a large contingent of bodybuilding enthusiasts who believe the ideal representation of the male physical form was represented best back in the Golden Era of the sport. When Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sergio Oliva, Frank Zane and the like took to the stage with symmetrical and proportionate forms.

While the mass monsters of today are fascinating in their own right, classic bodybuilding shapes are still coveted today for a number of reasons. For one, it seems like a far more attainable kind of physical form than what you’d find in the open weight division. That’s going to mean that far more men will try their hand at building up a classical type of bodybuilding form. It also hearkens back to a time where bodybuilding was more of an art form which many fans feel has been lost on the current generation of lifters.

As such, we’re beginning to see the rise of new bodybuilders who intend on becoming champions of the classic physique division. One such individual is Liam Kelly who is beginning to generate a pretty good following in the bodybuilding and fitness world. Kelly recently had the distinct pleasure of getting to learn from one of the best to ever do it, former Olympia champion Samir Bannout.

Though he may not have had a dominate winning streak like a Lee Haney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Ronnie Coleman, Samir Bannout proved that you can marry great aesthetics with quality muscle, all the while making posing into an art form. It’s the kind of mindset that you would find from a Kai Greene, an appreciation for how the human form moves and works. As such, Samir Bannout is lending out his knowledge to a new generation of bodybuilders looking to put classic physiques back on the map. Take a look at some of the pointers the former Olympia champ had to give to the young upstart Liam Kelly.
