matt riddle headerSome fighters just can’t get enough of the green stuff.

It’s 420 and you know what that means…unless you don’t which I’d admonish you for, but you’ve taken the time to come to the website and click on this article so instead you’ll get an explanation. 420 is a cult holiday where individuals consume a varying amounts of marijuana in celebration of…nothing really exactly, but you get the idea. You may be asking just what the hell that has to do about MMA? Well some of MMA’s most talented and memorable fighters have had their fair share of run ins with the green leafy substance, some of them making infractions and actually being positive for the substance during their bouts.

3. Matt Riddle

Matt-Riddle.0.0 Matthew Riddle would never be confused for a world beater, but what is true is that the young former UFC fighter had a certain level of talent doing fairly well from himself when he was with the promotion. The biggest issue with Riddle was that he wasn’t able to curb his marijuana usage which would lead to a number of no contests and eventually being jettisoned from paradise. He may have been a halfway decent fighters, but that didn’t change the fact that when it was time to do work that he should have been diligent about his extra curricular activity.

2. Jon Jones

images jones Jon Jones has had a long and storied past with substance abuse and recently the former Light Heavyweight champion admitted to being addicted to marijuana. There could be worse things to be addicted to, however, since the drug is on the ban substance list it’s on fighters like Jones to keep themselves clean or risk receiving the same fate as the man who tops the list.

1. Nick Diaz

Nick-Diaz-PNG You know we had to make Nick Diaz number one in this department. Both Nick and Nate Diaz could have both made it onto this list, but since the younger of the two brothers have never tested positive for Marijuana, Nick is a known quantity and definitely deserves to be on this list. Diaz recently had his suspension dropped from a ridiculous five years to eighteen months. Yet despite the suspension, Diaz has no plans of stopping his cannabis adventures anytime soon.
