TWO COWBOYS MAY FACE OFF AT UFC FIGHT NIGHT 83

cowboys headerUFC Fight Night could feature an American Cowboy against a Brazilian Cowboy.

With Tim Means out of the main event of UFC Fight Night 83 due to a potential USADA violation, it looks as if Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is in need of an opponent. It a great twist of fate it seems that someone with an eye for talent, not to mention a great sense of humor, has found a great late notice replacement to face off against the former UFC lightweight title challenger. Alex Oliveira is in talks to step in and meet Cerrone in the main event. What exactly makes this turn of events such an awesome treat for the fans? Well, if Oliveira does indeed get to face off against Cerrone then it would mean two men with the same nickname will face off for the first time. Yeah, that sounds a bit ridiculous and maybe even down right stupid, but in this case it’s absolutely intriguing. It’s like a mirror match in your favorite fighting game. Cowboy vs Cowboy. But their nicknames aren’t the only thing these two fighters have in common. Both men are former bull riders, both wear cowboy hats, and both have a propensity to get into wild and exciting striking matches. In a way it makes for an even more compelling match up than what we were getting with a Cerrone/Means match up. It’s a chance to see two men with a similar personality and skill set face off in what could be one of the more exciting free fights UFC fans will be blessed with this year. “Cowboy” Cerrone is coming off of a tough loss against lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. “Cowboy” Oliveira has been looking increasingly impressive after losing his UFC debut, albeit in exciting fashion, to Gilbert Burns. The Brazilian “Cowboy” has since looked impressive against Piotr Hallman and K.J. Noons since then. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this fight actually comes to fruition, not only for the odd coincidences, but simply because this will be a fun fight. Which “Cowboy” do you think will come out on top? Let us know in the comments and forums. Also, be sure to follow Generation Iron MMA on Facebook and Twitter.
