Tyson Pedro Vs OSP Added To UFC Singapore

Lightheavyweight giants are set to do battle in Singapore.

An exciting Lightheavyweight bout has just been added to the UFC’s upcoming Singapore event. This June, Aussie kickboxer Tyson Pedro will be taking on top contender Ovince Saint Preux in a main card matchup.

Saint Preux, (22-11, 10-6 UFC) has been at the top of Light-heavyweight for years, even contending for an Interim title against arguable GOAT Jon Jones. He is a powerful and unorthodox striker, though with some glaring weaknesses. OSP is 3-1 in his last four. All three victories came by finish, one spectacular head-kick KO, and two ‘Von Flue” chokes, a favorite technique of his.

In his last outing at UFC 221 in Perth, Pedro (7-1, 3-1 UFC) finished Saparbek Safarov via an aggressive kimura from the standing position. He too is 3-1 in his last four.

This fight has finish written all over it. OSP is primarily a striker and counter-wrestler. A former football player, he has undeniable power in every limb. However, he rarely strings strikes together in combination. His grappling is submission and stand-up oriented, his famous Von Flue choke is a serious threat to anyone in a front headlock position.

Pedro is an experienced striker, coming out of Australia. He’s spent much of his career at Jackson-Wink, where he developed a control-based, ground style of fighting which yielded him several submissions early in his career. Now training back home, it seems he is gravitating back towards kickboxing. This will likely lead to an intense striking war between the two, with aggressive submissions and scrambles should the fight hit the mat.

UFC Singapore, which will be UFC Fight Night 132 happens June 23rd in the Singapore Indoor Stadium and will air on UFC Fight Pass. As of now, the event looks to be headlined by a Welterweight fight between Donald Cerrone and Leon Edwards.
